MUKHTAR HALLIRU

Mukhtar Halliru is a first and foremost an academic with experience spanning over a period of 26 years. He holds a PhD in Management from Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto with specialization in Marketing. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Business Administration Bayero University Kano where he has spent virtually all his teaching and research career.

His practical experience in teaching and research began during his one-year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme when he was posted to Tunga Institute of Commerce in Minna, Niger State, to teach Business Studies.

The positive feedback he got from the students, and the sense of fulfillment he experienced, impacted positively on his interest in a teaching career.

Consequently, in 1991, he applied to the Department of Business Administration in Bayero University, Kano as a Graduate Assistant. He was employed alongside the two other best graduating students.

As part of the staff development policy of the University, he enrolled for the MBA programme in 1993, which he completed the following year and the overall best student in Marketing Management. This marked the beginning of his scholarly interest in Marketing.

In 2007, he was among the six scholars selected from the first and second-generation Universities in Nigeria for the

Fulbright Visiting Researcher Scheme (sponsored by the US state department) where he secured placement at Western Illinois University, Macomb USA for a period of nine months.

During this period, he taught Principles of Marketing and Consumer Behaviour at both undergraduate and graduate levels. He was also involved in numerous researches with colleagues over there.

Upon his return in 2008, he was appointed the program Coordinator of Masters in Business Administration of Bayero University Kano. In 2011, he served as Head of Department of Business Administration up till 2014.  He is currently the Director, Bayero University Consultancy Services Limited.

He has served as guest lecturer at several forums and does consulting work with numerous organizations.Mukhtar halliruis a core faculty member and facilitator at Kitari Consult Limited.
